TOURNAMENT POSTPONED – RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 12/13, 2024

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Glenview Champions in the Villages tomorrow for Day 1 of what promises to be another exciting weekend of junior golf competition. As you will see from the attached tee sheet we have a strong field of players for this exciting annual sponsor’s event, which is now in is 5th year, and each age group flight looks very open, challenging for all and competitive.

This 36 Hole stroke play tournament event will be contested over a combination of all 3 x 9-hole layouts at Glenview Champions with the opening round tomorrow being played over the Stirrup Cup and Talley Ho courses and Sunday’s final round starting on Fox Run and finishing on Stirrup Cup. Venue info can be reached by clicking HERE

Please find below a full listing of Saturday’s tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info by player. First players tee time is 11.56am and Registration (by the Pro Shop) will be open from 10am. We require ALL players to check in on arrival on BOTH days. Local Rule sheets and Scorecards will be issued to you at player Registration. It is also essential that we have a valid contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons and/or in the event we need to message you for any reason during play. Fiona will check with you at our player registration desk to ensure we have your contact number correct.

Range balls will be laid out for players to warm up in our dedicated area on the practice ground. Please only use the designated bays that have been allocated to us at the practice area. On both days of play we require all players to report to the 1st tee box 10 minutes before your tee time for player introductions and a short local rule briefing. Please note we will provide water, for players only, on the 1st tee only. There are also a number of water cooler stations with fresh chilled water on the course but just to ensure you stay fully hydrated please do bring extra water, food and snacks with you.

IMPORTANT – TOURNAMENT SCORING FOR ALL PLAYERS:

Without exception ALL player scoring over both rounds of play MUST be input via our online scoring APP which is named CJGT and can be found in your phone app store. Use of the app is always FREE for players to use. The app should be downloaded in advance of arrival at the venue.  Please note the app, if you haven’t already got it, looks like this in the app store:

Please ensure you have downloaded the app in advance and you have registered correctly (when registering you are given a choice to register as a Golfer/Player or as a Spectator/Parent) please ALWAYS register as a Golfer/Player and in the player’s name only, please do NOT register as a parent or spectator! Registering correctly ensures full FREE scoring access to this app and this tournament event. Registering incorrectly locks your player out of scoring and requires us to request a reset be carried out by iWanamaker support. This cannot always be completed on the day of a tournament.

You can then search for the event by date, and you will find all of the player tee times and pairings for Round 1 have already been pre-loaded. Round 2 will be loaded following play on Saturday and a message issued to you via email on Saturday evening with Sunday tee times and revised pairings based on round 1 scores. Recording a player score in the app is a simple process which should be done once play of each hole is concluded. If you are unsure about scoring please talk to a member of staff if you need any assistance…and please don’t forget to charge your phone!

As mentioned above using the app for scoring is a condition of this competition for all players, without exception. On this occasion we will also issue paper scorecards to all players at this event and we request that these also be completed. Before any score is input into the app we require you to advise the score you have had on each hole to your playing partners. At the end of each day’s play we ask that you agree scores together as a group and, once agreed you advise us that the app score that is showing is correct. If any player fails to record scores in the app and on a paper scorecard their score will not be counted in this event and they will not proceed to participate in Sunday’s final round.

All players have been grouped into age-based flights and players will play from appropriate age-based yardages which are shown below. After 36 holes are completed and, if it becomes necessary as a result of two or more players in a flight recording the same 36-hole score OR if two or more players record an identical lowest tournament score, a sudden death basis, extra hole play-off will be used to decide a flight or tournament winner. The holes and course used will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number of play off holes have been reached and, players are still tied, the winning medalist will be decided by a chip-off or by putting at an agreed green or practice area.

Caddies ARE only permitted for this event for players aged 15 and under only and USGA caddie rules will apply at all times. Electronic devices which assist with yardages are permitted for this event.

Golf Cart Rentals: Players at this event can choose to walk or ride in carts. Players aged 18 and over, with a driver’s license, can rent and drive cart or younger players can ride with parent/coach or caddie. On arrival, if you do intend renting a cart, please head to the ProShop beside registration desk and advise that you are playing in this tournament.  Rental carts are NOT included in the entry cost for this event and should be paid inside the Pro Shop ($25+ tax) Please note that cart staff at Glenview are instructed to ensure that players who are renting carts receive them ahead of spectators. We request that all players take responsibility for ensuring they maintain a good pace of play. This applies to all players regardless of walking or riding in carts. On Saturday and Sunday we will have volunteers assisting us and part of their role will be to help monitor pace of play and advise where gaps between groups may have formed. If it is required we will request that you pick up the pace and keep up with the group ahead of you. Consistent slow play by any individual or group will result in a warning followed by a target time being given to complete the following two holes in. If, following this, any group or individual is still out of position on the golf course he, she or the group may incur penalty strokes for slow play which will be advised prior to the end of your round.

Following play tomorrow we will be on hand to confirm with you and your group that all scores you have submitted in the CJGT app are correct. There will be no award recognition ceremony on Saturday, and you are free to leave once your Day 1 round is complete however please do not leave the venue until you have agreed scores with your playing partners and tournament officials are correct. If using a golf cart please return it as quickly as possible following the completion of your round.

On Saturday evening, we will update all the player placings after Day 1 and load Day 2 Tee times and pairings into the CJGT golf app for you to view. If we have additional info to pass to you, we will also email that to you. Sunday start times are again from 11.56am. and we anticipate the tournament awards ceremony will begin around 5.30pm, or once all players have completed 36 holes.

This tournament will attract ranking points from both Junior Golf Scoreboard and iWanamaker Rankings. JGS ranking submissions are subject to the criteria set by JGS. If you have questions relating to these rankings please refer questions to info@claretjuniortour.com or read guidelines printed in our T&C’s by clicking HERE
