The Claret Jug Junior Championship and Player of the Year Awards Tournament 2024 – Final Day Information

Good evening players, parents and friends and thank you for an exciting first day of play at Glenview Champions CC in The Villages. An interesting day with changing conditions, more wind than I can ever recall at this venue on the front 9 made it challenging for most. Lowest score of the day was Rupert Toomey’s -3 (69), an outstanding achievement in those conditions from our young friend from Australia, good job Rupert!

Elsewhere in the hunt for the lowest scorer in the other flights, and our eventual Claret Jug Winner, it’s Riley Sillaway from Longwood who leads overall with a +1(73). Close on his heels though we have Claret Tour Scholarship player, Aiden Skrocki and his fellow Villages HS team mate, Landon Howell on +3(75) and Trent Spires (Alachua) +4(76) who also leads his flight group and Jamie Morgan (Odessa) on +6(78) who leads his flight group! Our lowest scorer in our girls group is another of our Scholarship players and top medalist for the year with no fewer than 9 wins, Clermont’s Maren Richards on +8(80)

Lots to play for tomorrow in this one, as well as Flight Winner Awards, FJT Exemption Awards, Day on Day Improvement Award and Nearest The Pin prizes someone is taking home The Claret Jug ….and WHO will be announced as our 2025 Scholarship Award Recipients ? ….and WHO will be our 2025 Player of the Year??? It’s all going on tomorrow afternoon following play at Glenview Champions, see you there!
