The Venue: We are always excited to return to our long standing “home venue” at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Summerfield. Great practice facilities, well-tended greens and always a challenging layout, that’s always well maintained, means we usually see some good scores returned by our players. Head Professional Dale Smauder and his professional team have always shown great commitment to the development of Junior Golf in our community and a great welcome to everyone and, in turn, we really enjoy playing there. We try to return here regularly and always keep things fresh by playing different 2 x 9 hole layouts each time. On this occasion we anticipate playing all 4 of the 9 hole layouts over both days of play

The Legends At Orange Lake

Located in the East Village of Orange Lake Resort, The Legends is an 18 Hole Arnold Palmer Signature Design and this 7,072-yard championship course offers two distinct play experiences. Scottish-style golf is featured on the front nine; while the towering pines, majestic oaks, winding fairways and flowing water on the back nine are reminiscent of the Carolinas.

The course has multiple sets of tee boxes to ensure that all skill levels can enjoy a challenging round. Legends is the longer of the two championship courses but is more wide open. Driving range available during the day.

This is our Second Major Championship of 2023 and once again players will compete for a unique Claret Jug Trophy as well as medal awards. commemorative prizes and for the lowest scoring players (Boys and Girls) you will earn a coveted FJT STEP Exemption Certificate. The lowest scorer overall will take home The Claret Jug .All players entering will receive a unique goody bag and our on course additional award competition(s) will double up with extra gift card awards from Edwin Watts Golf.

The TCL/DeSantis Junior Open Championship is now in its 3rd year and we have had some very special winners and exciting moments. Previous winners include Bella Dovhey who set a ladies course record of 65 in this competition and Riley Sillaway who followed suit and shot a remarkable 64 and another course record for the boys on the following day of competion. Both players have experienced the joy of becoming our TCL/DeSantis Junior Open Champion and held The Claret Jug aloft….WHO will take the honors in 2023?

It’s always a great pleasure to return to Mission Inn Resort. El Campeón is one of the South’s oldest golf courses and blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design, including spectacular rolling fairways and undulating greens.

We are always impressed by the Ocala GC,s  layout, its condition and its history…Join us for this one and play a 90-year-old gem that really has stood the test of time?

To those golfers who know this one well, and who have talked about it for years, they know it simply as “Muni!” …it is city owned but that’s where the term ends for me as its unlike any municipal course I’ve ever seen before!  The layout is great and it could easily pass for a private course. It’s become known as one of the best competition venues in Florida and it’s visited every year by numerous Tours including FJT.

History

The Ocala Golf Club is located in the City of Ocala in Marion County. The city of Ocala has a long history and strong ties with the development of golf in Florida, dating back to the early 20th century. Ocala had a 9-hole golf course in the early 1900s known as the Ocala Heights Golf Club.  The early popularity of golf in Ocala generated citizen support for the development of a second golf course on the east side of town. Construction began in 1930 for a course designed and built under the personal supervision of E. Ellsworth Giles, golf architect from Pittsburgh. Giles promoted himself not only as an architect but as a builder of golf courses and an authority in selecting land for golf links. The Ocala Highlands Golf Course and Hotel formally opened in 1931. The City of Ocala purchased the golf course in the mid-1940s and built a new clubhouse.

In 2009, the municipal golf course re-opened for play following an extensive renovation by golf course architect Michael Beebe. The renovation consisted of new greens, tees, bunkers, irrigation, cart paths and selective tree removal. According to Beebe, “our goal was to re-capture the classical look and strategic principles that had been lost over the years while utilizing improved technologies in turf grass, green construction, drainage and irrigation.” The club also re-introduced short grass around the greens to add interest to the short game.
