We are really looking forward to seeing you all at Glenview for the final round of what promises to be an exciting end to a great weekend, and indeed a great year of junior golf competition.

Today’s first round was exciting, really exciting! We saw one young player (Bella Dovhey, Orlando) really blaze her way through 18 holes and by doing so she recorded a 7-birdie round and shot an extraordinary (-7) 32-33-65 to lead by 6 from nearest challenger in her age group flight (13-15) Maggie Potash (Eustis) who also put together a very impressive round of her own to stay in the hunt carding a (-1) 34-37-71.

Only one back on Maggie is Gabriel Hull (Spruce Creek HS) who carded a level par 36-36-72.

It may look like a bit of a mountain to climb for the challengers but the job’s NOT complete yet for anyone and so we expect both our leader and challengers tomorrow to give it absolutely everything they have to give us a great finale in this flight. Good luck to you all!

In our 16+ age flight it’s The Villages HS Senior Elle Folland and EJ Maupin (Lake Mary) who top the leader board in this one at the halfway stage. Both players carded a 77 on day one and they will play together tomorrow along with third place Trace Kirkland (The Villages HS) who shot a 79 that included a birdie on 18 to secure his place in the lead group! This one really is wide open as Caden Fockler who’s enjoyed a lot of success in the past over these courses lurks close by having carded an 80 today in round 1.

Our young guns in the aged 12 and under are also making it hugely exciting for us all as the leaderboard is packed with promising talent and a Claret Jug Trophy winner could be any one of several great kids! Ryker Huther leads the way after round 1 with a (-2) 34-36-70 that might have been even better but for a wayward approach shot into 18. Ryker had a great day, and he most certainly has the game to get this done, though he is being closely chased and will be pushed hard by two of our top talents and serial medal winners Riley Sillaway(Longwood) and Bobby Jones Potash (Eustis) who both recorded (-1) 71 of their own. Rhett Kirkland (The Villages is 5 back on 76 at the halfway stage and he can still have a say in how this works out tomorrow.

It’s going to be an exciting day tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

On arrival please check in first then arrange payment of your cart in the Pro shop. Range balls will already be laid out for players warm up on the practice area when you arrive.

Please make your way to the 1st tee no later than 10 minutes before your tee time to allow for a short local rule briefing and introduction,

Tomorrow we will also operate a Nearest the Pin Competition with prizes. We will advise you on the tee which par 3 we will use for this competition each day.

Following play tomorrow we will update all final scores in the player registration area. Please ensure the first thing you all do tomorrow following play is update your score in the app. Should a play-off be required we must have agreed scores in early if we are to arrange on course play-offs. If its not possible due to loss of light final player placings will be agreed via a chipping play-off.

We will commence prize giving immediately following the last group of players finishing. We would ask that you make your very best efforts to maintain a good pace of play. Today some of our players took longer than expected to finish which causes unnecessary stress on those behind.

Tomorrow, if similar gaps develop, it may be necessary to issue slow play warnings to players and take necessary measures to ensure you can keep up with the groups ahead of you. We hope you understand why this may be necessary and help us avoid this action by playing briskly and efficiently.

At our prize giving presentation we will be awarding various prizes in addition to The Claret Jug awards so please come along and give your full support to all of our young players.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE…ENJOY THE TOURNAMENT AND HAVE FUN!
