Good morning everyone

Thank you for your player registration for tomorrow’s Kingsridge Golf Club Junior Challenge Tournament which will be contested over 18 holes on Saturday 11th May, 2024.

This is our tournament day number 17 of our busy 2024 season so far and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at Kingsridge GC in Clermont. Kingsridge GC is a new venue for Claret Junior Tour and on our first visit here earlier in the year our players voted it as a good venue to return to. We hope that everyone will enjoy the experience with us. Venue information and directions are found by clicking HERE

Below this message you will find individual tee times, pairings, yardages and player flight/group info for this competition. We will commence play at 12 PM on hole number 1 of The Kings Course at Kingsridge GC. This ranked tournament will attract player rankings points from iWanamaker rankings.

It is important that all players check in on arrival with Fiona at our Golfer Registration Area. Check in will be open from 10 am. If any tee time or pairing changes are necessary, we will communicate these to you at that point. Range balls for warm up will be laid out and practice facilities information will also be issued to players at check-in.

It’s also extremely important to check that we have the correct phone number on file for you in the event that we need to contact you quickly while you are out on the course. Fiona will check with you that the number we have for you is correct.

At most of our tournaments players can choose to rent/ride in cart or walk. Players may drive cart or share cart with other player but only if at least one of you is 15+ and have a valid driver’s license. If not you can be driven by a parent or coach. Alternatively, you can walk with your own provided trolley or carry bag. If you do choose the option to walk, please remember that it is extremely important every player maintains a good pace of play.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING GOLF CART RENTALS: On this occasion a golf cart has been included in the entry fee cost for each player. Please note that we have been working with the venue to ensure enough carts are available FOR PLAYERS ONLY who require them. Additional spectator carts MAY be available later, but these can only be allocated to spectators after players receive their carts. The procedure for issuing carts will be advised at check in and it is likely they will be issued to players in tee time order. Please do not take a golf cart from the staging area at the venue until advised to do so. Please do NOT pay the venue for any player cart as this may not be refunded to you immediately. At the end of each day of play please empty and return your cart to the cart staff as quickly as possible.

Please note caddies are permitted at our tour events for players aged 15 or less. Caddies for aged 16+ players are not permissible at any of our tournaments. Caddies must observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed. If your group falls behind play, we will request you play “Ready Golf” in order to keep pace with the group in front. If after doing so you are still behind play we will give you a target time to complete the following two holes. If target time is not achieved, we will issue penalty strokes to any member(s) playing in your group that are causing delay. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are also acceptable for use at this competition.

IMPORTANT SCORING NOTES:

Official scoring for this tournament will only be accepted by inputting scores into our dedicated online scoring app, which can be downloaded from your phone’s app store, by searching for CJGT. Please download the CJGT app and register your player in advance of your arrival at the tournament. If you have issues doing so it is better to identify these to us before your arrival as we don’t always get enough time to assist and resolve things on the day of play.

Before play we will also request that you keep a personal paper scorecard record which can be used as a reference/backup should any discrepancies or errors be made in the app. If using the scoring app for the first time, you will first have to register by inputting your details in the CJGT app. Please only do so by USING THE PLAYERS NAME and confirm that you are a JUNIOR GOLFER/PLAYER in this tournament. Do NOT register as a Parent or Spectator as doing so will immediately lock you, and your Junior Golfer, out of the ability to add scores! Once registered you can then search for tomorrow’s competition in the Find an Event area where you will find the full list of players and tee times have been loaded into the app already.

Once registered scoring via the CJGT app is a simple process and we can demonstrate this prior to play. Players, please bear in mind that YOUR score on each hole is ultimately YOUR responsibility even if you are not the person within your group who is inputting it to the app. We always suggest that you double check it has been entered correctly before you finalize it on 18. If you do notice ANY discrepancy, please bring it to our attention immediately.

Please note that when searching in your phone’s app store for the CJGT app please look for, and then download, the app that looks like this:

As an additional exciting and fun element, we will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow and on Sunday, sponsored by Edwin Watts Golf, for all players, with a $25 gift card prize up for grabs each day for the player who hits closest to the pin. The hole to be used will be advised before you begin play tomorrow. If you do hit it close first check the Pin sheet at the back of the green to check earlier results. If you believe your ball is closer, measure it and record the measurement by adding your name to the Pin sheet. Winners from both days will be announced on Sunday following completion of play.

Weather text service: Please be assured player safety is always our priority and if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments to stop play, shelter on course or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text message and by one long blast of air horn. Please consult the forecast prior to play and ensure you are prepared, as much as possible, for fast-changing weather conditions. The weekend forecast at this point looks good but remember things can change quickly so be prepared. ALWAYS bring plenty of water and snacks and stay hydrated at all times.

Please make your way to the 1st tee 10 minutes before your scheduled tee time where we will provide a short briefing to players on any local rules that may apply to this competition. See also local rules we have added into the CJGT app. Following play tomorrow we will ask you to verbally agree and confirm that the scores entered in the CJGT app are correct. Please do not leave without verifying scores with us as doing so will result in us not including your score and could result in disqualification.

Tomorrow, following play we will have a brief awards presentation ceremony. We always try to conduct these presentations as quickly as we can to ensure you are not waiting around too much. If you can attend, we do always appreciate your sportsmanship and support of your fellow players.

Player Awards summary: A Claret Tour Medal Award will be made to each of our lowest scoring Flight Winners. We will also award an FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption to the individual lowest scoring, male or female player aged 13 and above, Please read the following important information relating to the award of FSGA/STEP Exemption Awards for this tournament.

Important information regarding FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Awards: Only players holding current Annual Membership player status of The Claret Tour, PRIOR to the beginning of this tournament, and current 2024 Scholarship players will be eligible to receive FJT Step Exemption Awards. In 2024 we will offer STEP Exemption awards to our lowest scoring players at all tournament events. Scoring average will be calculated over the 12 months preceding the event they are receiving the award for. These events will be advertised with the STEP Exemption symbol alongside them. Please note that STEP Exemptions will be limited to no more than two awards per individual player in each 3-month period of 2024 beginning in quarter 1 (January 1st to March 31st) If you require clarification or more info relating to FJT STEP Exemption Awards please email questions to: info@claretjuniortour.com
