Note: This is A 2-day 36-hole stroke play Major Championship tournament event ranked by GJGR (Global Junior Golf Rankings) and JGS (Junior Golf Scoreboard) All Highlander Junior Tour Members who have played in 8 or more of our events during 2021 Season can compete for The Claret Jug Trophy which will be presented immediately after play on Sunday 12th December.

Last year’s Claret Jug Trophy Junior Championship at Eagle Ridge GC and Harbor Hills CC was a huge success with 17 year old Nick Zarillo (Lake Mary) narrowly taking the Claret Jug after a nail biting 3 hole play off with Maggie Potash (Eustis) and Ryker Huther (Sorrento). Since then Nick has gone on to join SEU (South East University) in Lakeland on a college golf scholarship and he is continuing where he left off in the junior game with some fine and notable displays already.  We are delighted to announce that Nick and his family have agreed to join us for this tournament and he will be back to present an award to one of this year’s Claret Jug recipients.

So what’s changed since last year’s event? Well, the most significant change is the addition of two more Claret Jug Trophy Awards. On the basis that all season long most of you, with the exception being our 3+ medal winners in the Claret Flight, compete within your own defined age group flights we decided to significantly increase the winning opportunities and reward not one, but three, low scoring players.

This year one junior player from each of our three defined age player groups, which are ; 12’s and under, 13’s-15 and 16’s+ will compete for a unique Claret Jug Trophy which will be awarded to the lowest scorer in each age based category after 36 holes of tournament play AND In addition to winning a Claret Jug Trophy with a plaque bearing your name one player, our overall lowest scorer, will receive an additional award and be named The Highlander Tour Champion Golfer of the Year for Season 2021.

Highlander Junior Tour are offering our existing member players who have played in 8 events or more during season 2021 (January to December) an exclusive early opportunity before anyone else to secure a spot and experience one of the best championship venues in Central Florida. The Villages facilities are second to none and opportunities to compete here are very rare. Please note if you are unsure if you have played in 8 events or more please check before you register for this event. You can call or text me on 716-436-8691 or email to keith@highlanderjuniortour.comIt’s our hope that we can make this event our biggest and best Highlander season finale Championship yet with gifts for all players and additional prize awards to be given away over the weekend. We are also delighted to say we will be joined once again by our great friends, professional photographers Bev and Greg Wise, who will be capturing our players in action and of course, it wouldn’t be a Highlander Major Championship without our Champion Bagpiper Sean Buchta playing as our competitors finish on hole 36 and during the prize giving ceremony!

A huge thanks goes out to our wonderfully supportive sponsors for their ongoing help in making our tournament events happen…thank you as always Todd and Melissa Coon at TCL- Tri County Landscapes. Thank you, we couldn’t do what we do without your support, kind words and encouragement!

Also a huge thanks goes out to Ernest and Connie Maupin, who many of you know already, who last year kindly made a generous donation to our tour that assisted us hugely us in our purchase of the 3 unique Claret Jug Trophies that will be presented at this Championship Event.
