Thank you for your patience as we compiled tee times. We apologize for these arriving with you later than usual but as you may know already we were working closely with The Villages Golf today as they inspected the golf course in order to decide if Southern Oaks, and their other venues would re-open for play on Saturday. We found out late this afternoon we could proceed and this is the reason why we are later than usual with our tee time/info mail out message.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at Southern Oaks GC in the Villages. Venue information is below. Please note the venue address you should use is as follows. You are heading for The Southern Oaks GC ProShop where you will check in at our registration desk and pay for golf cart if required. The golf course is located on the opposite side of the road and you cannot check in at that location. Do not go to the golf course side as access is very limited.

Southern Oaks GC (352-753-6740) 766 Marilee Place, The Villages, 32163. When you see the large RED barn park as close to it as possible and head for the ProShop.

**IMPORTANT NOTE** There will be no access to a driving range/warm up area at Southern Oaks tomorrow. The venue is limited at this time to several putting areas and there are two driving nets close to the first tee area. If you do require driving range access prior to play there are two in The Villages that are re-opening tomorrow. The closest is at The Sarasota Practice Area which is around 10 minutes’ drive from Southern Oaks. Palmer Legends is the other and its around 25 minutes away. Details of each can be found by clicking HERE.

Address info for each is below:

  • Palmer Legends – Golf Academy – (352) 259-8121
    • 1625 Palmer Way, The Villages, 32162
  • Sarasota Golf Practice Center – Golf Academy – (352) 259-2077
    • 133 Moyer Loop, The Villages, 32163

If you decide to visit either please build in enough time to make it to Southern Oaks GC in plenty of time.

Below this message you will find individual tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info for tomorrow’s competition. We will commence play at 12.00 PM on hole number 1.

It is important that all players check in on arrival with Fiona at our Golfer Registration Desk beside the Pro Shop.. We will open check in at 10.30 AM and we do need to know you have arrived with us. If any tee time changes are necessary, we will communicate these to you at that point. It’s also important to check that we have the correct phone number on file in the event that we need to contact you with a weather text message or relay important info while you are out on the course. It’s extremely important to note that if your contact number is NOT the one you used on the Player Registration Form please advise Fiona at check-in. All player and spectator cart enquiries should also be directed through Fiona and NOT via the Pro Shop staff.

Rental carts are available for all players if required and will be issued from the ProShop after you have checked in with us. Golf cart rentals are $20 plus sales tax.

If you prefer to walk, with trolley or without, you are always free to do so at all of our tournaments. If you do choose this option please remember that it is extremely important every player maintains a good pace of play. Note also that Southern Oaks is a large property with a number of long walks between some greens/tees and from the ProShop area to the golf course. If you are going to walk it is advisable that you are able to hitch a ride over these areas.

Please note caddies are permitted at our tour events. Caddies MUST observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed. If your group falls behind play, we will request you play “Ready Golf” in order to keep pace with the group in front. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are also acceptable for use at this competition.

This single day competition will be ranked by GJGR. (Global Junior Golf Rankings) and scoring will only be accepted by inputting scores into our dedicated online scoring app, which can be downloaded from your online app store by searching for iWanamaker golf. You will find that the player tee times as shown below have already been loaded in the app already.

Official scoring will ONLY be accepted via the online app. While we no longer swap paper scorecards, we do suggest you keep a paper scorecard record which can be used as a backup to refer to should any discrepancies or errors be made in the app. If using the scoring app for the first time, you will first have to register in the iWanamaker app USING THE PLAYERS NAME. You can then search for tomorrow’s competition in the Find an Event area where you will find the full list of players and tee times pre-loaded.

Please note that when searching in your phone’s app store for the correct iWanamaker app please look for, and then download, the one that looks like this:

Scoring via the app is a simple process but if you do need any assistance please ask prior to play and we will be happy to help. Please bear in mind that YOUR score on each hole is always YOUR responsibility even if you are not the person within your group who is inputting it to the app. We always suggest that you double check it has been entered correctly before you finalize it on 18. If you do notice ANY discrepancy, please bring it to our attention immediately.

As always, as an additional exciting and fun element, we will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow, sponsored by Edwin Watts Golf, for all players, with a great prize provided by the sponsor for the winner. Tomorrow we will use Hole 4 as the location. Please note that our nearest the pin competition will also be loaded into the iWanamaker app. and when you get to the relevant hole the app will identify it with a banner on the scoring page that looks like this:

Clicking on the banner and then on the contest description will bring up only your playing group. Whoever is closest to the hole in your group should measure the distance, using the tape measure provided, have the distance verified by a playing partner and log it in the app at the same time as you are logging your score(s) for the hole.

Please make your way to the 1st tee 10 minutes before play where we will provide a short briefing to players on any local rules that may apply to this competition. See also local rules we have added in the app.

Weather text service: Please rest assured player safety is always our priority and if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments to shelter in place or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text. Please consult the forecast prior to play and ensure you are prepared, as much as possible, for fast-changing weather conditions. During the last few weeks most afternoons currently forecast the possibility of some rain so please be prepared for it.

It’s also forecast to be HOT so please bring food and plenty of water and stay hydrated at all times.

Following play tomorrow, and as player flights finish, we will compile scores and conduct brief medal presentations where our lowest scoring player in each player flight, and our nearest the pin winner, will receive recognition on the patio area. We try to conduct these presentations as quickly as we can to ensure you are not waiting around too much but we, and our players, do always appreciate your sportsmanship and support by attending if you possibly can.

Claret Junior Tour Merchandise.

Tomorrow we will have available for order a selection of branded items in male and female sizes. If any parent, player or spectator wishes to purchase any item please see Fiona. We are very proud of the fact that we offer junior golf tournament events at great venues and at great value for money when compared with many other junior tours in Florida. This is extremely important to us, and your support helps us to continue doing so.  Any profits made from merchandise purchased will always remain within our junior tour operation.

Please note that during 2022 season should any player wish to supply their own golf top(s) or hat to us we can usually have this embroidered with a Claret Junior Tour Logo for a cost of $15. The process takes only a few days.

If you have any questions about tomorrow and you do need to contact us urgently, please don’t hesitate to call or text (Keith) on 716-436-8691.

We are looking forward to another great day of junior golf competition at Southern Oaks GC. See you all tomorrow.

** Please Note. Tee box yardages are issued by us based on player age however if any player wishes to play from a longer tee box than that allocated, please advise a member of staff prior to play tomorrow. We will be happy to help with any requests. **
