Good evening everyone and thank you for registering to play in our first 36-Hole Major Championship of 2022. This stroke play event will be contested over a combination of all 3 x 9 hole layouts at the exceptional Glenview Champions Country Club in The Villages, Florida with the opening round on Saturday 30th April being played on Stirrup Cup and Talley Ho courses and Sunday’s final round on Fox Run and finishing on Stirrup Cup.

Full venue info can be reached by clicking HERE

Please find below a full listing of Saturday’s tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info by player. First tee time is 11.56am Saturday and Registration (by the Pro Shop) will be open from 9.45 am.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Glenview Champions for Round 1 of what promises to be an exciting weekend of junior golf competition. As you will see from the attached tee sheet we have a strong field of players for this event and, as a result, each age group flight (12 and under, 13/15 and 16+) looks very open and competitive.

On Sunday afternoon one player from each age group flight will be presented with a Claret Junior Tour Flight Winners medal and our lowest scorer after both rounds, regardless of age or flight,  will receive the additional accolade of becoming our first ever Phillips Toyota Junior Open Champion and will receive a unique Claret Jug trophy that comes with the win.

in addition to the above we will provide each of the lowest scoring flight winners with an FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption which will be credited to them to assist in gaining entry to a future FJT event of your choice. please note that STEP Exemptions can only be issued to players aged 12 and above and use of a STEP Exemption can only be made by junior players aged 13 or older.

In addition our sponsor for this event, Phillips Toyota (Tony Viero) have provided additional awards of Edwin Watts Golf Store Gift Cards and these will also be awarded to our lowest scorer in each player flight as follows:

The Old Course Flight (16+) winner will receive $200

The Jubilee Course Flight (13/15) winner will receive $125

The New Course Flight (12 and under) will receive $75

It is usual for our events that ALL scoring over both rounds of play will be input via our online scoring app. from iWanamaker. Please note the app, if you haven’t already got it, looks like this in the app store:

Please ensure you have downloaded it in advance and you have registered (in the player’s name) which ensures full access to this event. You can then search for the event (The Phillips Toyota Junior Open) by date, and you will find all of the player tee times and pairings for round 1 have already been pre-loaded. Round 2 will be loaded following play on Saturday and a message issued to you via email. Recording a player score in the app is a simple process once play begins however, please talk to a member of staff if you need any assistance…and please don’t forget to charge your phone!

PLEASE NOTE THIS ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTE on SCORING:

Please note that using the app for scoring is a condition of this competition. On this occasion we will also issue named paper scorecards to all players at this event and we request that these also be completed. At the first tee we will issue your cards and ask you to swap them with another player in your playing group. At that stage you will assume responsibility for both manually recording on scorecard, and in the app, the player whose card you have been given.

At the end of each day’s play we ask that you agree scores together and once agreed you hand in your paper scorecards to us before you depart. We require all players to agree to this amended scoring system prior to the beginning of play. If any player fails to record scores in this way their score will not be counted in this event.

All players have been grouped into the age-based flights and players will play from appropriate age-based yardages which are shown below. After 36 holes are completed and, if it becomes necessary as a result of two or more players in a flight recording the same 36-hole score, extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a winner and the number of holes and course used will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached players are still tied the winning medalist will be decided by a chip-off or by putting at an agreed green or practice area.

Caddies ARE permitted for this event and USGA caddie rules will apply at all times. Electronic devices which assist with yardages are also permitted for this event.

It is essential that we have a valid contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons and/or in the event we need to message you for any reason during play. Please check with Fiona at our player registration desk to ensure we have your contact number correct.

We will provide water on the 1st tee and at points around the course and there are some water cooler stations on the course. Please do bring food and keep hydrated at all times during the competition.

Please note that players at this event can choose to walk or ride in carts. On arrival, if you do intend renting a cart, please head to the ProShop and advise that you are playing in this tournament.  Rental carts are NOT included in the entry cost for this event and can be paid inside the Pro Shop ($20 + tax) Please note that cart staff at Glenview are instructed to ensure that players who are renting carts receive them ahead of spectators. We request that all players take responsibility for ensuring they maintain a good pace of play. This applies to all players regardless of walking or riding in carts. On Saturday and Sunday we will have volunteers assisting us and part of their role will be to help monitor pace of play and advise where gaps between groups may have formed. If it is required we will request that you pick up the pace and keep up with the group ahead of you.

As soon as possible on arrival please check in at our “Golfer Registration” area which is located by the Pro Shop and register your arrival with Fiona who will confirm your tee time and give information regarding practice facilities. Please also collect your player gift from Fiona at registration. Range balls will already be laid out for players warm up on the practice area when you arrive. Please only use the designated bays that have been allocated to us at the driving range.

Please make your way to the 1st tee no later than 10 minutes before your tee time to allow for a short local rule briefing and introduction, if necessary, to your playing partner(s)

On each day we will also operate a Nearest the Pin Competition sponsored by Edwin Watts Golf. Prize each day will be a $25 Edwin Watts Gift Card. On Saturday number 16 (Talley Ho) will be the chosen hole for this competition and it will also be scored by inputting details into the app.

Following play tomorrow we will update Day 1 scores in the player registration area. This is a convenient spot as its close to the 18th hole and alongside the cart return area. There will be no award recognition ceremony on Saturday, and you are free to leave once your Day 1 round is complete however please do not leave until you have agreed scores with your playing partners and handed in your scorecards to a member of staff.

As quickly as we can on Saturday evening, we will update all the player placings after Day 1 and load Day 2 Tee times and pairings into the iWanamaker golf app for you to view. If we have additional info to pass to you, we will also email that to you. Sunday start times are also from 11.56 and we anticipate the awards ceremony will take place around 5.30 or earlier if all players have completed 36 holes.

GOOD LUCK PLAYERS…ENJOY THE TOURNAMENT AND DO YOUR BEST!
