Good morning everyone

Thank you for your player registration for this 36 Hole Junior Tournament. We are very much looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at Nancy Lopez Legacy GC in The Villages. Venue information and directions are found by clicking HERE This ranked tournament will attract player rankings points from both GJGR and JGS.

Below this message you will find individual tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info for tomorrow’s competition. We will commence play at 11.56 AM on hole number 1 of Ashley Meadows Course. Our back 9 will see us turning for home at Torri Pines. Directions to each will be given on the first tee tomorrow before play.

It is extremely important that all players or parent check in on arrival with Fiona at our Golfer Registration Desk which will be situated by the putting green area. Check in will be open from 9.45am. If any tee time changes are necessary we will communicate these to you at that point. Range balls for warm up and practice information will also be issued to players at check-in.

It’s also EXTREMELY important to check that we have the correct phone number on file in the event that we need to contact you with a weather text message or relay important info while you are out on the course. If your number is NOT the one you used on the Player Registration Form for this event please advise Fiona.

Golf cart rentals, for those who require them, can be obtained via the ProShop on arrival. Rentals are $25 plus tax. Please advise the staff in the ProShop that you are playing in our tournament if you do wish to rent a cart. At the end of each day of play please empty and return your cart to the cart staff as quickly as possible. To limit the number of carts on the course if you are planing on riding and you can share a cart with a playing partner then feel free to do so (and save a few $$$ too!)

At all of our tournaments players can choose to ride in cart, if you have a drivers license or alongside a parent or coach, or walk, with trolley or carry bag. If you do choose this latter option to walk please remember that it is extremely important every player maintains a good pace of play.

Please note caddies are also permitted at our tour events. Caddies MUST observe USGA caddie rules and pace of play MUST be observed. If your group falls behind play, we will request you play “Ready Golf” in order to keep pace with the group in front. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are also acceptable for use at this competition.

This 36-hole competition will be ranked by GJGR. (Global Junior Golf Rankings) and JGS (Junior Golf Scoreboard)

All scoring for our tournaments will only be accepted by inputting scores into our dedicated online scoring app, which can be downloaded from your phone’s app store, by searching for the letters CJGT.

Please download the CJGT app and register your player in advance of your arrival at the tournament. If you have issues doing so it is better to identify these to us before your arrival as we don’t always get enough time to assist and resolve things quickly once play begins.

We do strongly encourage that you also keep a paper scorecard record which can be used as a backup to refer to should any discrepancies or errors be made in the app. If using the scoring app for the first time, you will first have to register by inputting your details in the CJGT app. Please only do so by USING THE PLAYERS NAME and confirm that you are a PLAYER in this tournament and NOT a Parent or Spectator. Once you have done so you can then search for tomorrow’s competition in the Find an Event area where you will find the full list of players and tee times have been loaded in the app already.

Please note that if you are not a player in this tournament but you would like to follow live scoring you can register as a parent or spectator. There is a charge to do this which is set by iWanamaker (who created and distribute the app) The cost for a single user for a single tournament is $8 and a full year season ticket costs $30. Please ask if you are unsure about registering in the CJGT app.

Please note that when searching in your phone’s app store for the CJGT app please look for, and then download, the one that looks like this:

Scoring itself via the CJGT app is a simple process and we can demonstrate this prior to play. Players, please bear in mind that YOUR score on each hole is ultimately YOUR responsibility even if you are not the person within your group who is inputting it to the app. We always suggest that you double check it has been entered correctly before you finalize it on 18. If you do notice ANY discrepancy, please bring it to our attention immediately.

As always, as an additional exciting and fun element, we will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow and on Sunday, sponsored by Edwin Watts Golf, for all players, with a $25 gift card prize up for grabs for the player who hits closest to the pin. Tomorrow this competition will take place on hole number 8 of Ashley Meadows.

Please note that our nearest the pin competition will also be recorded into the CJGT app. When you get to the relevant hole the scoring app will identify it with a banner on the scoring page that looks like this:

Clicking on the banner and then on the contest description will bring up your playing group. Whoever is closest to the hole in your group should measure the distance, using the tape measure provided, have the distance verified by a playing partner and log it in the app at the same time as you are logging your score(s) for the hole.

Please make your way to the 1st tee 10 minutes before play where we will provide a short briefing to players on any local rules that may apply to this competition. See also local rules we have added in the app.

Weather text service: Please rest assured player safety is always our priority and if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments to shelter in place or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text. Please consult the forecast prior to play and ensure you are prepared, as much as possible, for fast-changing weather conditions. The weekend forecast forecast at this point looks good but remember things can change quickly so be prepared. Please bring plenty of water and stay hydrated PLEASE!

Following play tomorrow we will ask you to confirm scores are accurate and we will compile scores for day one. There will be NO awards presentation so you can head home immediately following score verification. We will notify you all by email of Sunday pairings and tee times on Saturday evening.

On Sunday we will have a brief awards presentation ceremony following play. We always try to conduct these presentations as quickly as we can to ensure you are not waiting around too much but we, and our players, do always appreciate your sportsmanship and support by asking that you attend if you possibly can.

Claret Junior Tour Merchandise.

Tomorrow we will have available for order a small selection of branded items. If any parent, player or spectator wishes to purchase any item please see Fiona. We are very proud of the fact that we offer junior golf tournament events at great venues and at great value for money. Always being “family-affordable” is extremely important to us, and your support helps us to continue doing so.  Any profits made from merchandise purchased will always remain within our junior tour operation.

Please note that during 2023 season should any player wish to supply their own golf top(s) or hat to us we can have this embroidered with a Claret Junior Tour Logo for a cost of $15. The process takes only a few days.

If you have any questions about tomorrow and you do need to contact us urgently, please don’t hesitate to call or text me (Keith) on 716-436-8691.

We are looking forward to another great weekend of Junior Golf at Lopez Legacy GC in The Villages.

See you all there.

** Please Note if any player wishes to play from a longer tee box than that allocated, please advise a member of staff prior to play tomorrow. We will be happy to help with any requests. **
