Thank you for your player entry for tomorrow’s 18-hole tournament taking place at the renowned and spectacular Mission Inn Resort. Mission Inn is Florida’s most historic venue and hosts numerous Professional and Amateur tournament events each year. It is also, for the 14th year running, this year’s host venue for the FHSAA (Florida High School) State Championships and if you are a High School golfer, we hope you will have a great 2024 and possibly even return here in November representing your school as a qualified player! Venue information can be found by clicking HERE

Below this message you will find individual player tee times, pairings, yardages and player flight/group info for this competition. First tee time Saturday for our El Campeon Tournament will be 12.30 pm and it’s extremely important that ALL players are at the tee and ready to play at least 10 minutes before for player introductions and a short local rule briefing. This tournament is an 18-hole stroke play event which will be ranked by iWanamaker rankings.

REGISTRATION: On arrival at Mission Inn please check in with Fiona at our Claret Tour Registration area which is situated alongside the cart rental station. Registration will be open from 10.30am. Fiona will confirm your tee time and on course contact info. It is essential that we have a contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons and in the event, we need to message you in case of emergency or to advise of any incoming weather issues that may force you to take temporary shelter. The weather right now can be a little unpredictable so please be prepared. It is also advisable to ensure you have with you a good supply of water, energy drinks and snacks. Please be assured player safety is always our priority and, if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments, to shelter in place or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text and sound one long blast of the air horn to stop play immediately. Should this be necessary please observe this safety request immediately. A failure for any member to stop play when advised to do so is disqualification from this tournament.

GOLF CARTS: A rental cart has been included in the entry cost of the event for EVERY player however please do NOT remove your named cart until advised and only AFTER you have checked in. Please be very careful to take your own named cart and not someone else’s! As many of you know we have always given you the option of walking, with bag or trolley, or riding in carts at our tournaments. On this occasion we respectfully request that, if possible, ALL players take advantage of the rental cart that’s already been included in the cost of entry. This is a request only and not mandatory however we do have a busy field of players tomorrow and we must ensure that a steady pace of play is maintained throughout the day. El Campeon is a challenging venue with many elevation changes and some travel between greens and tees. Riding carts will help ensure pace of play is maintained. If you DO still wish to walk, please be advised that you must keep pace with the group in front of you. If your group falls behind, you will be asked to immediately remedy the situation. If any player(s) cannot keep pace we will monitor your group and if necessary, put you on notice that penalty strokes may be added to your score(s) if you cannot close the gap with the group ahead of you.

Additional carts MAY be available for spectators but cannot be guaranteed. They are available on a first come basis for spectators at a cost of $40 plus tax. Please also remember the golf cart policy that now exists in Florida. No one under aged 15 may drive a rental golf cart. Players aged 15 and above who wish to rent/drive a golf cart MUST be in possession of a valid Drivers Permit or Driver’s License to do so.

CADDIES: Please note caddies are only permitted at our tour events for players aged 15 or less. Caddies for aged 16+ players are not permissible at any of our tournaments. Caddies must observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed.

SCORING: It is a requirement that ALL players official tournament scoring is recorded by you using the CJGT online scoring app. If you are attending your first CJT event, please download the app by searching for CJGT in your app store and register as a junior golfer and in player’s name. Please do not register as a parent or spectator as this will lock you out of the ability to score and take you to a payment page for viewing scores only. Only players registered have full FREE access to the scoring app and it is therefore extremely important that you register as a player.

Once you have the app, and you are registered correctly, you can then search for the tournament. All official scoring for this tournament must be input into the app on a hole-by-hole basis.

We also request that you keep/complete a scorecard for your own use/records. The paper card is useful to do a double check of scores if any discrepancies are found in the app following play but ONLY the scores you enter into the app, verified as accurate, by player and scorer will be accepted.

Please remember the accuracy of your score is always YOUR responsibility. Even if another member of the group, you are playing with agrees to submit everyone’s scores into the app it is still YOUR responsibility to check these scores are input correctly with him/her BEFORE they are finally submitted at the end of play. You will see that all players are already loaded in tee time format. The app is very easy to use and if you do need any assistance please reach out to us in advance of play and ideally, NOT on the day of play, as iWanamaker, who provide the app and support, cannot always guarantee to resolve issues on weekend tournament days. When searching for the app please note it looks like this:

NEAREST the PIN: As an additional fun and competitive element at our tournaments we offer a Nearest the Pin Competition open to all players. We will offer a gift card prize from our sponsor, Edwin Watts Golf, for the player closest to the pin on Saturday. We will provide a marker stake alongside the green. If you are close, check the stake for earlier players measurements. If you think you are closer measure the distance from middle of the hole to the center of your ball using the tape provided. Always agree the measurement with at least one other player in your group and if your ball is closest write your name and measurement on stake. The measurement should be in feet/inches and tomorrow the hole used for the competition on El Campeón will be number 8.

AWARDS: All players have been grouped into age-based player flights and a CJGT winner’s medal will be presented to the lowest scoring player in each flight. In addition to flight winner medals, we will also make a special player award to a single individual male and female player, our lowest scoring players, aged 13 and above, who will also receive an *FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Award for use in their choice of an FJT Tournament in the next 12 months. Please read T&C’s relating to FJT STEP

* FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Awards for participation in future FJT Events. Only players holding current Annual Membership player status of The Claret Tour, PRIOR to the beginning of this tournament, or current 2024 Scholarship players, will be eligible to receive FJT Step Exemption Awards. In 2024 we will offer STEP Exemption awards to our lowest scoring players, both boys and girls, in the age groups 13-15 and 16+ at all of our tournament events. We will offer one FJT STEP Exemption Award to our lowest scoring Boy AND to our lowest scoring Girl at each of our 18 Hole tournaments.  These awards will only be made if the winning player scores a +8 score or below on each 18 holes played in the tournament. If the winning player scores more than a +8 we will only consider awarding a STEP Exemption if the player already has an overall scoring average of 80 or less in either the iWanamaker or JGS rankings records. Scoring average will be calculated over the 12 months preceding the event they are receiving the award for. These events will be advertised with the STEP Exemption symbol alongside them. Please note that STEP Exemptions will be limited to no more than two awards per individual player in each 3-month period of 2024 beginning in quarter 1 (January 1st to March 31st) If you require clarification or more info relating to FJT STEP Exemption Awards please email questions to: info@claretjuniortour.com or ask at the tournament.

If necessary, in the event of a tied score in any player flight, extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a winner. The number of holes will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached players are still all square the play off will be decided on the putting green area.

As each flight group finishes, we will conduct these brief medal presentations by the main scoreboard area. Please show good sportsmanship and support the medal winners at the presentation of the flight you are competing in IF you are able to stay and do so. We always plan on doing these awards outdoor (weather permitting) by the large Mission Inn Scoreboard.

Thank you for your support of this tournament. We look forward to welcoming you all to Mission Inn tomorrow.

The tee times and further info are listed below. Good luck to all of our players and we hope you enjoy this Mission Inn, El Campeon experience with The Claret Junior Tour.
