Good evening everyone.

Registration is now closed for this tournament and we have a strong field of players, in all age groups, joining us for this exciting 18-Hole Challenge at Red Tail GC. The field includes no fewer than 15 new joining players who are playing in their first Claret Junior Tournament. If you do play with us regularly and you are paired with one or more of our newest players we know that, on behalf of the tour, you will make them feel very welcome.

On Saturday we will commence play at 11.30AM on hole number 1. Player Tee Times, Pairings, Flight Information and Tee Box Assignments are below this email.

It is important that all players check in on arrival with Fiona at our Golfer Registration Desk by the Pro Shop. We will open check in at 9.30am. It’s important that we know you have arrived with us and if any tee time changes are necessary, we will communicate these to you at that point. Range balls information will also be issued to players at check-in. It’s also important to check that we have the correct phone number on file in the event that we need to contact you with a weather text message or relay any important info to you while you are out on the course.

It’s important that if your contact number is NOT the one you used on the Player Registration Form please advise Fiona at check-in. All player and spectator cart enquiries should also be directed through Fiona and NOT via the Pro Shop staff.

Prepaid rental carts are included for all players who have paid a full entry fee for this event. It is our intention to issue rental carts at check in desk to players in strict tee time order. A very limited number of spectator carts MAY be available later from the Pro Shop at Red Tail GC. If you are a spectator, please do NOT request or take a golf cart rental prior to ALL players receiving their allocated cart. If you choose NOT to use a rental cart, please advise Fiona at check in as this may help us allocate carts quicker to players who are using them.

Message to ALL players, if you do prefer to walk, with push trolley or carry bag, you are always welcome to do so at all of our tournaments. If you do choose this option, please do remember that it is extremely important every player maintains a good pace of play. Please note, at this time, caddies are permitted at our tournaments. Caddies MUST observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are also acceptable for use at this competition. If your group falls behind play, we will request you immediately increase your pace in order to keep pace with the group in front. In the event that any individual player or any pairings are reported and then observed NOT keeping up with play after two warnings you will be penalized with additional strokes. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are also acceptable for use at this competition.

This single day competition will be ranked by GJGR. (Global Junior Golf Rankings) and scoring will only be accepted by inputting scores into our dedicated online scoring app, which can be downloaded from your online app store by searching for the app which is named CJGT

You will find that the player tee times as shown below are now loaded and available in the app already.

Official scoring will ONLY be accepted via the online app. While we no longer swap paper scorecards, we do request you keep a paper scorecard record which can be used as a backup to refer to should any discrepancies or errors be made in the app. If you are joining us for the first time or playing with us for the first time this year please be aware we are using this NEW dedicated scoring app and you will first have to register in the CJGT app and by USING THE PLAYERS NAME AND confirming you are A PLAYER, if you sign up incorrectly and say you are a parent/spectator you will be taken to a pay screen. Signing up as a participating player is always FREE. You can then search for this competition in the Find an Events section.

Please note that when searching in your phone’s app store for the correct iWanamaker app please look for, and then download, the one that looks like this:

Scoring via the app is a simple process but if you do need any assistance please ask prior to play and we will be happy to help. Please bear in mind that as a player YOUR score on each hole is always YOUR responsibility, even if you are not the person within your group who is inputting it to the app. We strongly suggest that you double check it has been entered correctly before you finalize it after 18 holes are complete. If you do notice ANY discrepancy, please bring it to our attention immediately.

As always, as an additional exciting and fun element, we will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow, sponsored by Edwin Watts Golf, for all players, with a great prize provided by the sponsor for the winner. Tomorrow we will use Hole 4 as the location. Please note that our nearest the pin competition will also be loaded into the iWanamaker app. and when you get to the relevant hole the app will identify it with a banner on the scoring page that looks like this:

Clicking on the banner and then on the contest description will bring up only your playing group. Whoever is closest to the hole in your group should measure the distance, using the tape measure provided, have the distance verified by a playing partner and log it in the app at the same time as you are logging your score(s) for the hole.

Please make your way to the 1st tee which is adjacent to the practice area 10 minutes before play where we will provide a short briefing to players on any local rules that may apply to this competition. See also local rules we have added in the app under tournament rules.

Weather text service: Please rest assured player safety is always our priority and if it becomes necessary, due to bad or dangerous weather, at any of our tournaments to shelter in place or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text. Please consult the forecast prior to play and ensure you are prepared, as much as possible, for fast-changing weather conditions. During the last few weeks most afternoons currently forecast the possibility of some rain so please be prepared for it. Saturday is forecast to be HOT so please bring food and plenty of water and stay hydrated at all times.

Following play on Saturday, as player flights finish, we will compile scores and conduct brief medal presentations where our lowest scoring player in each player flight, and our nearest the pin winner, will receive recognition on the patio area. We try to conduct these presentations as quickly as we can to ensure you are not waiting around too much but we, and our players, do always appreciate your sportsmanship and support by attending to support your fellow players if you possibly can.

Claret Junior Tour Merchandise.

As usual at our tournaments we will have available for order a selection of branded items in male and female sizes. If any parent, player or spectator wishes to purchase any item please see Fiona. We are very proud of the fact that we offer junior golf tournament events at great venues and at great value for money. This is extremely important to us, and your support helps us to continue doing so.  Any profits made from merchandise purchased will always remain within our junior tour operation.

Please note that during 2023 season should any player wish to supply their own golf shirt(s) to us we can have this embroidered with a Claret Junior Tour Logo for a cost of $15. The process takes only a few days.

If you have any questions and you do need to contact us urgently, please don’t hesitate to email to keith@claretjuniortour.com or call or text on 716-436-8691.

We are looking forward to another great day of golf competition at Red Tail GC. Good luck to all players and please enjoy the experience!!! See you all Saturday.

** Please Note. Tee box yardages are issued by us based on player age however if any player wishes to play from a longer tee box than that allocated, please advise a member of staff prior to play tomorrow. We will be happy to help with any requests. **
