Thank you for registering to play in our 2nd Major Championships of 2023.

Welcome to The TCL DeSantis Junior Open Championship.

Who are TCL/DeSantis ?

The owners of both TCL – Tri County Landscapes (www.tricountylandscapes.com)and DeSantis AC (www.desantisac.com) are our friends and Tour Sponsors Todd and Melissa Coon. Todd and Melissa have supported our junior tour for 3 years. They are incredibly supportive of what we do and most important of all is they share our belief that giving young people access to sports, golf in particular, can be an extremely powerful way of helping to develop our youth into more confident and better young adults of the future. Operating a junior golf tour that remains affordable and professionally run would not be possible without our business sponsors backing and we are truly blessed to have TCL and DeSantis alongside us. We are hoping Todd and Melissa will be joining us to award prizes on Sunday and we hope you will join with us and give them a very warm welcome for everything they do to support our sport and our junior players ongoing development.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ:

This junior golf stroke play event will be contested over two of the 9-hole layouts at the exceptional Glenview Champions Country Club in The Villages, Florida with both days’ rounds being played over the Talley Ho and Fox Run courses. Full venue info can be found by clicking HERE

Please see below this message a full listing of Saturday’s tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info by player. First tee time is 11.56am on Saturday and Sunday and Player Welcome/Registration (situated by the Pro Shop) will be open from 9.45 am.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Glenview Champions for Day 1 of what promises to be an exciting weekend of junior golf competition. As you will see from the tee sheet we have a strong field of players for this event. Each age group player flight (Eden Course – Girls all Ages, New Course – 12 and under Boys, Jubilee Course 13/15 Boys and Old Course 16+Boys) looks very open and highly competitive.

On Sunday afternoon the lowest scoring player from three of these age based group flights will be presented with a Claret Junior Tour Flight Winners medal and a special recognition plate award. One junior player, the overall competition low scorer, will receive a medal award and the additional accolade of becoming our TCL DeSantis Junior Open Champion of 2023 and he, or she, will be presented with the unique Claret Jug Trophy that comes with the win.

In addition to the above we will provide each of the lowest scoring flight winners, who hold annual membership status of our tour, with an FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Award which will be credited to you to assist in gaining entry to a future FJT event of your choice. please note that STEP Exemptions will be issued to players aged 13 and above as FSGA/FJT rules state that the use of a STEP Exemption can only be by junior players aged 13 or older.

IMPORTANT NOTE – SCORING FOR ALL PLAYERS :

Without exception ALL player scoring over both rounds of play MUST be input to our online scoring APP which is named CJGT. The app should be downloaded and ALL players should be registered in advance of arrival at the venue from your phone’s app store.  Please note the app, if you haven’t already got it, looks like this in the app store:

Please ensure you have downloaded it in advance and you have registered (in the player’s name only, please do NOT register as a parent or spectator) Registering as a junior player ensures full and unrestricted FREE access to players for this event.

Once registered you can then search for the event by date, you will find all of the player tee times and pairings for Round 1 have already been pre-loaded. Round 2 will be loaded following play on Saturday and a message issued to you via email on Saturday evening with Sunday tee times and revised pairings based on round 1 scores. Recording a player score in the app is a simple process which should be done once play of each hole is concluded. If you are unsure about scoring please talk to a member of staff if you need any assistance…and please don’t forget to charge your phone!

PLEASE NOTE THIS ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTE on SCORING:

As mentioned above using the app for scoring is a condition of this competition. On this occasion we will also issue paper scorecards to all players at this event and we request that these also be completed. Before any score is input into the app we require you to advise the score you have had on each hole to your playing partners. At the end of each day’s play we ask that you agree scores together as a group and, once agreed, you hand in your paper scorecards to us before you depart. We require all players to agree to this scoring system/format prior to the beginning of play. If any player fails to record scores in the app and on a paper scorecard their score will not be counted in this event.

All players have been grouped into the age-based flights and players will play from appropriate age-based yardages which are shown below. After 36 holes are completed and, if it becomes necessary as a result of two or more players in a flight recording the same 36-hole score, extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a winner and the number of holes and course used will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached players are still tied the winning medalist will be decided by a chip-off or by putting at an agreed green or practice area.

Caddies ARE permitted for this event and USGA caddie rules will apply at all times. Electronic devices which assist with yardages are also permitted for this event with slope ratings turned OFF.

It is essential that we have a valid contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons and/or in the event we need to message you for any reason during play. Please check with Fiona at our player registration desk to ensure we have your contact number correct.

We will provide bottled water on the 1st tee and 10th tee for players only. There are several water cooler stations on the course but just to ensure you stay fully hydrated please do bring extra water and food and snacks with you.

Please note that players at this event can choose to walk or ride in carts. Players with a driver’s license can rent and drive or younger players can ride with parent/coach or caddie. On arrival, if you do intend renting a cart, please head to the ProShop and advise that you are playing in this tournament.  Rental carts are NOT included in the entry cost for this event and can be paid inside the Pro Shop ($25+ tax) Please note that cart staff at Glenview are instructed to ensure that players who are renting carts receive them ahead of spectators. We request that all players take responsibility for ensuring they maintain a good pace of play. This applies to all players regardless of walking or riding in carts. On Saturday and Sunday we will have volunteers assisting us and part of their role will be to help monitor pace of play and advise where gaps between groups may have formed. If it is required we will request that you pick up the pace and keep up with the group ahead of you.

As soon as possible on arrival please check in at our “Golfer Registration” area which is located by the Pro Shop and register your arrival with Fiona who will confirm your tee time and give information regarding practice facilities. Please also collect your player gift from Fiona at registration. Range balls will be laid out for players to warm up in our dedicated area on the practice ground when you arrive. Please only use the designated bays that have been allocated to us at the driving range.

Please make your way to the 1st tee no later than 10 minutes before your tee time to allow for a short local rule briefing and introduction to your playing partner(s)

On both days of play we will add an additional fun opportunity to win awards with a nearest the pin competition. Our good friends at Edwin Watts Golf in Lady Lake sponsor this competition and provide the prize awards of $50 gift cards for each winner.

Please note we will also have some media present at this tournament. Our resident professional golf photographers, Bev and Greg will be taking pictures and The Villages Daily Sun Newspaper Group also will be in attendance. We will pass all images of players we receive to you following the tournament.

Following play tomorrow we will collect Day 1 scorecards and verify app scores are correct by the 18th green or in the player registration area. There will be no award recognition ceremony on Saturday, and you are free to leave once your Day 1 round is complete however please do not leave until you have agreed scores with your playing partners are correct and your scorecard and the app show the correct score. If you are using a rental golf cart please return it as soon as possible.

As quickly as we can on Saturday evening, we will update all the player placings after Day 1 and load Day 2 Tee times and pairings into the CJGT golf app for you to view. If we have additional info to pass to you, we will also email that to you. Sunday start times are also from 11.56 and we anticipate the awards ceremony will take place around 5.30 or once all players have completed 36 holes.

This tournament will attract ranking points from Junior Golf Scoreboard, iWanamaker and Global Junior Golf Rankings. All ranking submissions are subject to the criteria set by JGS and GJGR. If you have questions relating to rankings please refer questions to info@claretjuniortour.com or discuss prior to play beginning at the event.
