It was Tournament number 6 for us of our busy 2022 season so far and it turned out to be the toughest challenge our junior players have faced by far this season! Last week at Red Tail GC we expected it to be tough, it was, but THIS one was in a league of it’s own!

Dubsdread GC in Orlando has it all, its without question one of the oldest and most historic Florida venues you can play and it’s been providing a really tough challenge to players of all ages and abilities since 1924.

Dubsdread GC is recognized by numerous highly ranked tour organizations as well as our own State Golf Association (FSGA) who regularly host junior and senior events there. It’s also a Regional Championship Venue for the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletics Association).

All of that recognition and history means something! It means you should always expect a tough challenge on a course in fine shape and that’s exactly what we got on Saturday! However, when you also throw into that mix strong and gusting winds you will begin to realize THAT’s when Dubsdread GC is really going to show you just how tough she can play! While it may have resulted, for most, in higher-than-average scores that’s really no bad thing to happen on occasion to any junior player as this is a sport that can never be underestimated, it’s always going to remind us never to assume anything until that final putt drops!

We did welcome a strong line-up of young players in for this one in all age groups. No fewer than 8 previous low scoring medal winners were in the field, in these conditions however,  who would put up the best scores at Dubsdread GC?

You can check out how things played out in this one for each of our 3 flights of players with some images below of our medal and prize winners.

Thank you as always to our sponsors for supporting junior golf development in our community. We, our players and their families, very much appreciate all of the help and assistance we receive from you in helping us promote youth sport and tournament participation.

Dubsdread GC, thank you for hosting The Claret Junior Tour and for all you do to promote junior golf. As always, the staff were exceptionally professional and helpful throughout the day and we are very much looking forward to making a return visit in the summer months to challenge this great venue once again!
