Thank you to all of our young players…and those not quite so young, who turned out in force yesterday for our fun end of year Highlander Junior Tour Parent and Child 18 hole scramble competition. Thank you also to everyone at the wonderful Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake for your kindness and for providing us with such a great venue in amazing shape.

Last but certainly not least on our thank you list is to our event sponsor for yesterday Dr Fernando Serra to whom we are forever grateful for your support of the Highlander Junior Tour and for your very much appreciated support of junior golf in our community. We could not host events and achieve our aim of keeping costs low without sponsors support so from all of us and all of the kids who play and all of the parents who pay…THANK YOU !

So, to the day itself and despite an early heavy shower (that made the course temporarily look more like a traditional Scottish Links than Florida !) conditions improved just in time for our midday tee times to commence in warm sunshine which happily stayed with us for the rest of the day.

Everyone we spoke with had a great time playing with family and friends and our winners on the day proved that the combination of great teamwork, good communication and perhaps a sprinkling of local knowledge goes a long way towards success in golf as in life !

Our winning team with an impressive -4 (68) was Tripp Watkins aged 13 and Tom Leimberger (age withheld ) Tom incidentally is the Head Professional at Harbor Hills and not only a huge supporter of our tour but the development of junior golf in general . Tripp Watkins is developing into a very strong player and a fine young man and this is in fact the second time he has secured himself a Highlander event winners medal this year.

Congratulations again Tripp and Tom, our sponsor Dr Fernando Serra and indeed everyone who attended or participated on the day. Thank you as always for your support. We will be back on January 18th at Eagle Ridge…more info on that to follow.
