TOURNAMENT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ:

This junior golf stroke play event will be contested over two days over the Stirrup Cup and Fox Run courses at the exceptional Glenview Champions Country Club in The Villages.

Full venue info can be found by clicking HERE

Please see below this message a full listing of Saturday’s tee times, pairings, yardages and flight info by player. First tee time is 11.50 am on Saturday and Sunday and Player Welcome/Registration (situated by the Pro Shop) will be open each day from 10am.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Glenview Champions for Day 1 of what promises to be an exciting final weekend of our 36-hole junior golf competitions in 2023.

On Sunday afternoon the lowest scoring individual player from each of our 4 age-based player flights will be presented with a Claret Junior Tour Flight Winners medal and a unique special recognition prize award. The individual player, regardless of age, who is the overall tournament low scorer will also be presented with The Claret Jug Trophy in recognition of his/her achievement.

In addition to the above we will provide each of the lowest scoring flight winners, who hold annual membership status of our tour, with an FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Award which will be credited to you to assist in gaining entry to a future FJT event of your choice. Please note that STEP Exemptions will only be issued to players aged 13 and above as FSGA/FJT rules state that the use of a STEP Exemption can only be by junior players aged 13 or older. As we have more boys competing than girls at this event we will make a single (1) STEP Exemption Award to our lowest scoring female player, who holds annual membership status and is aged 13/17.

IMPORTANT NOTE – SCORING FOR ALL PLAYERS:

Without exception ALL player scoring over both rounds of play MUST be input to our online scoring APP which is named CJGT. The app should be downloaded from your phone’s app store and players should be registered in advance of arrival at the venue. Please note the app, if you haven’t already got it, looks like this in the app store:

IMPORTANT Please ensure when you register you do so in the player’s name and you confirm when asked that you are a junior golfer, please do NOT under any circumstances register as a parent or spectator as doing so will lock your player out of the scoring app. Registering as a junior player ensures full and unrestricted FREE access to players for this event.

Once registered you can then search for the event by date, you will find all of the player tee times and pairings for Round 1 have already been pre-loaded. Round 2 will be loaded following play on Saturday and a message issued to you via email on Saturday evening with Sunday tee times. Recording a player score in the app is a simple process which should be done once play of each hole is concluded. If you are unsure about scoring please talk to a member of staff if you need any assistance…and please don’t forget to charge your phone!

PLEASE NOTE THIS ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTE on SCORING:

As mentioned above using the app for scoring is a condition of this competition. On this occasion we will also issue paper scorecards to all players at this event and we request that these also be completed. Before any score is input into the app we require you to advise the score you have had on each hole to your playing partners. At the end of each day’s play we ask that you agree scores together as a group and, once agreed, you hand in your paper scorecards to us before you depart. We require all players to agree to this scoring system/format prior to the beginning of play. If any player fails to record scores in the app and on a paper scorecard their score will not be counted in this event.

All players have been grouped into age-based flights and players will play from appropriate age-based yardages which are shown below. After 36 holes are completed and, if it becomes necessary as a result of two or more players in a flight recording the same 36-hole score, extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a winner and the number of holes and course used will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached players are still tied the winning medalist will be decided by a chip-off or by putting at an agreed green or practice area.

Caddies ARE only permitted for this event for players aged 15 or lower. USGA caddie rules will apply at all times. Electronic devices which assist with yardages are also permitted for this event with slope ratings turned OFF.

It is essential that we have a valid contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons and/or in the event we need to message you for any reason during play. Please check with Fiona at our player registration desk to ensure we have your contact number correct.

We will provide bottled water on the 1st tee for players only. There are many water cooler stations on the course but just to ensure you stay fully hydrated please do bring extra water food and snacks with you.

Please note that players at this event can choose to walk or ride in carts. Players aged 15 or older with a driver’s license can rent and drive or younger players can ride with parent/coach or caddie. On arrival, if you do intend renting a cart, please head to the ProShop and advise that you are playing in this tournament.  Rental carts are NOT included in the entry cost for this event and can be paid at the venue ($25+ tax) Please note that cart staff at Glenview are instructed to ensure that players who are renting carts receive them ahead of spectators. We request that all players take responsibility for ensuring they maintain a good pace of play. This applies to all players regardless of walking or riding in carts. On Saturday and Sunday, we will have volunteers assisting us and part of their role will be to help monitor pace of play and advise where gaps between groups may have formed. If it is required, we will request that you pick up the pace and keep up with the group ahead of you.

As soon as possible on arrival please check in at our “Golfer Registration” area which is located by the Pro Shop and register your arrival with Fiona who will confirm your tee time and give information regarding practice facilities. Range balls will be laid out for players to warm up in our dedicated area on the practice ground when you arrive. Please only use the designated bays that have been allocated to us at the driving range.

Please make your way to the 1st tee 15 minutes before your tee time to allow for a short local rule briefing and introduction to your playing partner(s)

On both days of play there will be an additional fun opportunity to win awards with a nearest the pin competition. Our good friends and nearest the pin sponsors at Edwin Watts Golf in The Villages provide the prize awards of $25 gift cards for each winner.

Following play tomorrow we will collect Day 1 scorecards and verify app scores are correct. Once completed you are good to head for home. If you are using a rental golf cart please return it as soon as possible.

As quickly as we can on Saturday evening, we will update all the player day 1 scores and load Day 2 Tee times and pairings into the CJGT golf app for you to view. If we have additional info to pass to you, we will also email that to you. Sunday start times are also from 11.50am and we anticipate presenting recognition awards around 5pm.

This tournament will attract ranking points from Junior Golf Scoreboard and iWanamaker All ranking submissions are subject to the criteria set by JGS. If you have questions relating to rankings please refer questions to info@claretjuniortour.com or discuss prior to play beginning at the event.
