Good afternoon everyone and, if we haven’t said so already, Happy New Year to you all! We really do hope that 2022 is a wonderful year for you all.

It’s a brand-new year of junior golf tournaments too and, alongside our fresh new branding, it already feels like it’s going to be great fun and an important year for so many our developing young golfers. This will be tournament number one under the new banner of The Claret Jug Junior Tour, and we really can’t wait to get started!

There’s LOTS going on tomorrow! We will start with a tradition we established last year when our Champion Golfer for season 2020 (Nick Zarillo, who’s also going to be joining us tomorrow as a guest player) hit the first tee shot of the New Season 2021 in our first competition and tomorrow that tradition will pass to our new Champion Golfer of 2021, 14-year-old Bella Dovhey (Orlando), to lead us off into a new season of junior golf.

We would be really grateful if you would please kindly join us for a few minutes at the first tee, around 12.25pm, to show your support of this tradition.

Tomorrow is also our launch day for FREE TOURNAMENT GOLF and we will provide everyone with an information sheet with full details on how it works. We have tried to make it as simple to follow as possible and, although there are a few necessary T&C’s to be aware of, there really is no catch! If you are still an active annual member player of HJT or a newly signed up member of The Claret Junior Tour, and on Saturday 90% of our players attending are, we are going to give you each a FREE TOURNAMENT GOLF credit just for playing in this event. In fact we are going to give you a FREE TOURNAMENT GOLF credit for EVERY paid event you play in with us!

You are then free to use these credits anytime within 90 days of issue to claim a free tournament entry or multiple tournament entries into any of our future tournament events. As you know already some of our tournaments are more expensive than others, and to keep things easy to understand and manage, we have already started to identify all future tournaments that we confirm as either a Blue (1 credit) Red (2 credit) or White (3 credit) tournament. So for example if you want to join us next week at Ocala GC, which is a Blue (1 credit) event, you can do so FREE with your earned credit from tomorrow at Harbor Hills. Want to save your credits for somewhere like Mission Inn which is a White (3 credit) venue just make sure you play in 3 events with us in advance and Mission Inn is FREE.

We hope you like the idea of FREE golf? It really is a case of the more you play, the more you can save, but one word of warning, book as far in advance as possible, don’t wait until the event you want FREE is almost upon us as you may find all of the FREE spots are gone!

Back to tomorrow then and, as always in our competitions, ALL player scoring tomorrow will be done online using the iWanamaker scoring app. Please search in your phone’s app store for iWanamaker and download it. Here’s what the app logo looks like:

IWanamaker are currently building us our very own dedicated scoring app which should be ready for next week and for this tournament they have kindly given us permission to use their general app. Once downloaded you can then search for our event named The Claret Junior Tour at Harbor Hills CC  you will need to register using the PLAYER’s NAME and email if he has one, if not use your own email but please register using the players name only.

Once registered you will find all of the pairings are already pre-loaded. Recording a player score is a simple process once you begin play however please talk to me tomorrow if you need any assistance…and don’t forget to charge your phone!

Please note that using the app for scoring is a condition of this competition and no other form of scoring is acceptable. It is also advisable that, in case of any issues arising with online scoring, that you keep a note of scores using a manual scorecard, this is also useful later as, occasionally, errors can happen when scores are input and a manual record serves to help rectify things later.

Tomorrow we have also loaded our “Nearest the pin” competition sponsored by Edwin Watts into the scoring app and we will trial how easy that is to operate in that way. Instructions will be given on how to complete this prior to play.

On arrival at Harbor Hills CC please head to the marked “Golfer Registration” area by the ProShop and register your arrival with Fiona. Registration will open from 10.15am. Fiona will confirm your tee time and confirm if your golf cart is available at that stage. Each player in the field tomorrow has paid in advance for a golf cart and there is no further requirement to pay in the pro-shop. Please do NOT take a cart until you have checked in with Fiona first.

We have given Harbor Hills staff our tee times and we have asked that PLAYERS are issued carts in tee time order and, that all players receive them before any additional spectators do. If any problems do arise on the day please bring them to our attention and we will deal with them accordingly.

Players can ride either on their own (if old enough and with a valid drivers licence) or alongside a parent. If you choose to walk the course your cart can be used by a parent/coach or accompanying spectator nominated by you.

Range balls are already out for players warm up and the range is over to the right hand side of the first tee. Please make your way to the 1st tee just before 12.30 to support the beginning of our new season and then no later than 10 minutes before your own tee time to allow for a short local rules briefing and introduction to your playing partner(s)

Following play we will present winners medals. We do always try to keep these award recognition ceremonies as brief as we can as we know many of you have travelled some way to be at our event but we, and our players, do very much appreciate when fellow players and parents wait after play and take the time to attend and show your support to our medalists if at all possible.

Enjoy the rest of your Friday everyone and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Please note our contact number if you need to contact us at any point before play tomorrow, 716 436 8691
