Hi everyone and THANK YOU for supporting us in this annual FUNdraiser Team Scramble Tournament at Harbor Hills CC tomorrow. Fiona and I are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to this fundraising tournament.

This is only the second time we have hosted this type of event and already it has become one of THE most important dates in our tournament schedule. It’s VERY different to our normal junior-only tournaments in many ways, not least in its format, as it gives many of you the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf with at least one junior golfer in your 4-person scramble team and this year we are thrilled to be able to confirm that almost 50% of the player field of 80 are junior golfers, boys and girls, aged from 9 to 17!

Your support and attendance is really appreciated by us, and everyone involved with our tour, and the funds we hope to raise in this event help us to achieve two main goals as a junior tour:

1.Our fundraising efforts through tomorrow’s tournament, and with the additional financial help of a few local contributing business and personal sponsors, enables us to continue providing year-round ranked junior tournaments for ALL kids, of all abilities, at the most family-affordable entry fees in the State. We believe strongly that competitive and challenging tournament golf should be affordable to ALL juniors and their families, and we are committed to ensuring, with your help, that we can continue to operate in this way.

2.We are the ONLY junior golf tour in Florida who provide a number of our junior players, boys and girls, with annual playing scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to our most dedicated young players who have demonstrated a love for the game, exceptional behaviors and etiquette and a strong desire to be the very best they can be. Each scholarship recipient player plays FREE at every tournament we host during the year. Currently we have 8 young golfers, 6 boys and 2 girls aged from 12 to 17 playing FREE tournament golf as scholarship players. In 2023 we hosted 41 days in total of tournament golf. Fundraising at this event, and donations from a small number of business supporters and personal supporters of our tour, is the only way we can continue to award scholarships to the most deserving juniors in golf!

PLEASE NOTE: A list of players is shown below. This is a shotgun start at 8am for ALL players and your start hole location will be given at check in which opens at 6.45am tomorrow by the Pro Shop.

The tournament will be a shotgun start and we will begin play at 8am. All players are requested to check in with us at the Pro Shop before play. Please note this is a 4-person team scramble tournament. You will be issued a simple rules sheet at that stage. Please ensure your team is assembled and ready to play on time. If you are one of our junior players please note we will NOT Be using our normal scoring app. All scoring will be done on scorecards only. Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd placed teams and winners of Nearest the Pin Competitions.

Prior to play you will have the opportunity to purchase 2 mulligans for $10 per player. The definition of a “Mulligan” is simply a second chance tee shot. If you hit a tee shot you would rather forget use your Mulligan and don’t count the bad one you hit previously!

If you haven’t been to one of our tournaments before and tasted Fiona’s home baked Scottish Shortbread NOW is the time to grab a bag before play($5)…trust me you will NOT be disappointed! At check in we will also have tickets available for our amazing raffle ($5 for 4 tickets or $10 for 10) and our Silent Auction items will also be on display. Don’t worry though if you miss this opportunity to check the raffle and auction out as you will have time to purchase tickets, or bid on an item, when you get back to the clubhouse at lunch time!

In addition to the above we have also arranged two unique and entertaining nearest the pin challenges for you out on the golf course. First up at Hole number 5 we have a “Hickory Golf” challenge lined up for you and hosted by our great friends, and hickory golfers, Greg and Bev Wise.  In return for a small donation ($5 minimum per player), you will be given the opportunity to get closest to the pin using a Hickory Wood Shafted Club of your choice and a period style ball. This is golf played from a century ago, can you get close? Pay attention to the advice you get from Greg and swing that golf club SLOW for best results!

Our next nearest the pin challenge comes at number 8 and this too is a bit special! On this one we are giving you a choice to hit once, using your own ball, or double your chances of a win by making a donation ($5 minimum per player) and allowing our VERY special guest to hit an additional one for you that can be counted if its closer! If you choose to take a chance and double up it MAY work in your favor as our guest player is no ordinary junior golfer, please meet our tour’s great friend, 18-year-old Savannah De Bock who comes to us all the way from Belgium. Savannah’s a rising star of ladies’ golf with so many huge achievements to date it’s impossible to list them all here but for starters try this… Ladies European Amateur Champion 2022, Junior Solheim Cup Winner on 2 occasions for Team Europe, Participated in 2 British Open Championships (Professional Level) and currently ranked number 43 in the World on WAGR rankings! This bubbly and ever smiling young lady is a rising star and we LOVE her passion for the game and her personality! We think you will too!

So, please do enjoy the tournament! We look forward to seeing you all out there. remember to dress WARMLY…sunshine is forecast and no rain BUT it looks like it will be chilly so come prepared! Don’t forget your wallet too as every single $$$ we can raise will be very gratefully received! We do have a few more surprises lined up for you too but, for now, we will keep those under wraps!

Thank you again for being with us…we appreciate your support a great deal!
