We are very much looking forward to returning to this impressive Tavares venue this weekend. Our previous visits provided us with a great welcome and a lot of challenging and exciting tournament golf and we hope you all enjoy the experience! Please note we will begin play at 11am on both days of play, Saturday and Sunday (11-12 October). We are playing straight tee times and all play will commence from Tee 1. Some important notes are highlighted below for your information. Please read these and ensure you arrive as prepared as possible. Day 1 tee times, pairings, player tee box yardages and player flight groups are shown below. We ask that all players are punctual and make their way to the tee at least 10 minutes before play for player introductions and a short local rule briefing. We will provide bottled water on the 1st tee for players. Please bring additional water, energy drinks and snacks and remain hydrated at all times during play. Please note the current forecast for Saturday and Sunday is projected to be between 77-81F with a chance of afternoon showers. Please do check the forecast on Saturday and prepare for the conditions you may encounter. 

On arrival tomorrow please check in with Fiona at our Player Registration Area. Registration will be open from 9.30 am. It is essential that we have a contact number for every player out on the course for safety reasons, and in the event, we need to message/advise of any incoming weather issues that may force you to take temporary shelter. At registration Fiona will confirm your tee time and on course contact info, issue you with a rules sheet and then direct you to the area where you can collect range balls and your golf cart. Under no circumstances should you take a golf cart until you have checked in and been instructed to do so. Golf cart rentals at this venue are included in the entry fee for ALL players. Deer Island CC is a cart only venue and venue management have requested that ALL players use them without exception. Golf cart may be driven by any player aged 16 and over who holds a driver’s license. If you do not qualify to drive your cart may be driven by any accompanying parent/adult/license holder. Players wishing to share a cart with another player in their group may do so as long as cart driver has a license.

Caddies are permitted for this event only for players aged 15 and under. Electronic devices which assist with yardages are also permitted for this event. No caddies allowed for any 16+ player and strictly no coaching of players during tournaments. Caddies, please remember you are there to provide caddie advice and support only during tournaments.

Tournament Scoring – IMPORTANT. Player scores for this tournament will only be accepted when they have been input into our dedicated scoring app. If you do not register and download the app we may not be able to count your scores for this tournament. The App is named CJGT and it should be downloaded to your phone, in advance of tournament. If you are joining us for the first time you will need to complete a one-time only simple, and free, player registration. Please note when registering you must register as a player when asked during the process, not as a parent or spectator, incorrectly registering as a parent will take you to a view only parent/spectator payment page and it will lock your player out from completing scoring. Tournament Rankings – Following the completion of all Claret Tournaments we report scores to the following National Rankings Agencies, JGS (Junior Golf Scoreboard) JGH (Junior Golf Hub) and iWanamaker Rankings. All players have been grouped into age-based flights shown below and players will play from appropriate age-based yardages. On Sunday afternoon a Claret Junior Tour winner’s medal and a plaque award will be presented to the lowest scoring player in each flight and FJT STEP awards will also be awarded where applicable. 

In the event that any player flight is tied extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a flight winner. The number of holes and location will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached, and if players are still tied, the winning medalist will be decided by a chip-off or putt-off (playoff final decider) at an agreed green side area.

FJT STEP Exemptions – This tournament also carries the added benefit, to flight winning current annual membership players aged 13 and above, with the opportunity to receive an FJT (Florida Junior Tour) STEP Exemption Award. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that we are unable to award FJT STEP Exemption Awards to any player who is NOT a current Annual Membership player prior to this tournament beginning. If you are not currently a Membership player and you wish to be considered for FJT STEP Exemption win awards at any of our tournaments, please ensure you enroll in our annual membership plan before tournament begins. This weekend we will award STEP awards, to players who meet the qualifying requirements set, in our BOYS 16+ Flight, our BOYS 13/15 Flight and our GIRLS 12/17 Flight. If you need clarification on eligibility for FJT STEP Awards, please ask a member of staff prior to play.

We will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow and on Sunday (sponsored by PGA Tour Superstore) for all players with a sponsor’s prize of a gift card for the winner. We will advise which hole will be used on each day of this competition.

Please be advised that we set player yardages based on player age. On some occasions we are asked by player/parent or coach to INCREASE a player’s total yardage. We fully understand that some players, based on their current stage of development, may wish to play from further back and we are happy to support these requests as long as they are made prior to arrival on the first tee. All requests should be made to staff at check-in stage or earlier. Requests must be made by either Player, Parent or Coach. Under no circumstances will we consider player requests to play shorter yardages than those we have set.
