Thank you for your player entry for this weekend’s 36-Hole Tournament taking place at the renowned and spectacular Mission Inn Resort. Mission Inn is Florida’s most historic venue and hosts numerous Professional and Amateur tournament events each year. It is also, for the 14th year running, this year’s host venue for the FHSAA (Florida High School) State Championships and if you are a High School golfer, we hope you may even return here in November to represent your school as a qualified player! Venue information can be found by clicking HERE
Below this message you will find individual player tee times, pairings, yardages and player flight/group info for this competition. On our first day of play (Saturday) we will begin on the Las Colinas course. First tee time will be 11.30 AM. On Sunday our final round will be played on the El Campeon course and tee times once again will begin at 11.30AM. On Saturday evening we will email you your individual start time for Sunday play. It’s extremely important that ALL players are at the tee and ready to play at least 10 minutes before your allocated tee time to allow for player introductions and a short local rule briefing. This weekend tournament is a 36-hole stroke play event which will be Nationally ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, Junior Golf Hub and iWanamaker Rankings. See important information relating to Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings by reading all T&C’s in section 9…to do so please click HERE
REGISTRATION: On arrival please check in at the Claret Tour Registration area which is situated alongside the cart rental station. Registration will be open from 9.45 AM. Fiona will confirm your tee time and on course contact info. It is essential that we have a contact number for every player out on the course, for safety reasons, and in the event that we need to message you to advise of any incoming weather issues that may force you to take temporary shelter. The weather at this time can be a little unpredictable so please check the forecast before leaving home and be prepared. It is also advisable to ensure you have with you a good supply of water, energy drinks and snacks. Please be assured player safety is always our priority and, if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments, to stop play, shelter in place or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text and sound one long blast of the air horn to stop play. Should this be necessary please observe this safety request immediately. Failing to stop play when advised to do so is a serious breach of safety and will result in disqualification.
GOLF CARTS: A rental cart has been included in the entry fee cost for every player however please do NOT remove your named cart until advised and only AFTER you have checked in. Please be very careful to take your own named cart and not someone else’s! As many of you know we have always given you the option of walking, with bag or trolley, or riding in carts at our tournaments. On this occasion we respectfully request that, if possible, ALL players take advantage of the rental cart that’s already been included in the cost of entry. This is a request only and not mandatory however we do have a busy field of players tomorrow and we must ensure that a steady pace of play is maintained throughout the day. This is a very challenging venue with many elevation changes and a lot of travel between greens and tees. Riding carts will help ensure pace of play is maintained. If you DO still wish to walk, please be advised that you must keep pace with the group in front of you. If your group falls behind, you will be asked to immediately remedy the situation. If any player(s) cannot keep pace we will monitor your group and if necessary, put you on notice that penalty strokes may be added to your score(s) if you cannot close the gap with the group ahead of you.
Additional carts MAY be available for spectators however these cannot be guaranteed. Please note that at this venue no player under the age of 16 may drive a rental golf cart. Players aged 16 and above who wish to drive a golf cart MUST be in possession of a valid Drivers Permit or Driver’s License to do so.
CADDIES: Please note caddies are only permitted at our tour events for players aged 15 or less. Caddies for aged 16+ players are not permissible at any of our tournaments. Caddies must observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed.
SCORING: It is a requirement at ALL of our tournaments that ALL official tournament scoring is recorded by you using the CJGT online scoring app. If you are attending your first CJT event, please download the app by searching for CJGT in your app store. You will be required to submit a one-time only registration and for this you will need an email address. When doing so please ensure you register as a junior golfer and in player’s name. Please do not register as a parent or spectator as this will lock you out of the ability to score and take you to a payment page for viewing scores only. Only players registered correctly as junior golfers have full FREE access to the scoring app and it is therefore extremely important that you register as a player.
Once you have the app, and you are registered correctly, you can then search for the tournament. All official scoring for this tournament must be input into the app on a hole-by-hole basis. You will see that tomorrow’s pairings etc have already been loaded into the app. Sunday pairings on El Campeon will be loaded on Saturday evening following conclusion of Day 1 play tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will also request that you keep/complete a scorecard. The paper card is useful to do a double check of scores if any discrepancies are found in the app following play but ONLY the scores you enter into the app, verified as accurate, by player and scorer will be accepted.
Please remember the accuracy of your score is always YOUR responsibility. Even if another member of the group, you are playing with agrees to submit everyone’s scores into the app it is still YOUR responsibility to check these scores are input correctly with him/her BEFORE they are finally submitted at the end of play. You will see that all players are already loaded in tee time format. The app is very easy to use and if you do need any assistance please reach out to us in advance of play and ideally, NOT on the day of play, as iWanamaker, who provide the app and support, cannot always guarantee to resolve issues on weekend tournament days. When searching for the app please note it looks like this:
NEAREST the PIN: As an additional fun and competitive element at our tournaments we offer a Nearest the Pin Competition open to all players. We will offer a gift card prize from our sponsor, Edwin Watts Golf, for the player closest to the pin on Saturday and on Sunday. We will provide a marker stake/sheet alongside the green. If you are close, measure the distance from edge of the hole to your ball using the tape measure provided. Always agree the measurement with at least one other player in your group and if your ball is closest write your name and measurement on provided sheet.
SUNDAY AWARDS: All players have been grouped into age-based player flights and a CJGT winner’s medal will be presented to the lowest scoring player in each flight. In addition to flight winner medals, we are also authorized by FSGA/FJT to make up to 3 special player awards at this tournament. Our lowest scoring female player aged 13 and over and both of our lowest scoring male players in our 13/15 and our 16+ flights can secure an FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Award to gain entry into their choice of an FJT Tournament in the next 12 months. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING – STEP Exemption recipients must be aged 13 and above, MUST hold current Annual Membership Status of Claret Junior Tour BEFORE this tournament begins, and must meet the minimum expected scoring target of +16 overall or less after 36 holes are completed. You can read full terms and conditions relating to FJT STEP Awards by reading section 8 of our T&C’s by clicking HERE
If necessary, in the event of a tied score in any player flight, extra hole play-offs will be used to decide a winner. The number of holes will be advised prior to the play-off commencing. If after the agreed number has been reached players are still all square the play off will be decided on the putting green area.
As each flight group finishes, and once scores are agreed and logged, we will conduct medal presentations. Please show good sportsmanship and support the medal winners at the presentation of the flight you are competing in IF you are able to stay and do so.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Mission Inn Resort and another great weekend of tournament golf.
