The Leona Curtis Cup 2026

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to another exciting weekend of nationally-ranked junior tournament golf at not one, but two, great Championship golf venues in The Villages.

The first of these has quickly become a firm favorite of players, Southern Oaks GC is our Day 1 (Saturday May 16th) venue and it’s become a regular venue on our schedule since it opened in 2021. On Sunday we will conclude this 36-hole stroke play tournament at Shallow Creek GC, one of the best additions to the championship venues in The Villages. We feel sure if you haven’t played one or both of these already that you will enjoy playing them as much as we do! We will commence play at each venue, Saturday and Sunday at 11.56 AM, and all play will begin from Tee number 1. Below you will find some advance information relating to this tournament that you may find useful. Please note that your individual tee time, pairings and player flight information will be emailed to you on Friday morning (May 15th) Please look out for this email. In the meantime please do reach out if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT NOTE – PRACTICE ROUNDS

If you wish to play a practice round, at one or both venues, please call the venue(s) direct on (Southern Oaks GC 352-753-6740) and (Shallow Creek GC on 352-753-6696) on the day you wish to play. Advise staff you are a junior golfer playing in this tournament and they will provide you with availability information and pricing. Our main contacts at the venue(s) if you need them are Tony Wilson at Southern Oaks and Chase Senn at Shallow Creek.

IMPORTANT NOTE – CART USE

At this tournament players are permitted to use rental carts during play if they wish to do so. Cost of cart has NOT been included. Carts can be rented at a cost of $25 plus sales tax on arrival at the venue. Please note carts can only be driven by players 16 and above who MUST be in possession of a valid license. If cart is being used by younger players or player with no driver’s license it can be driven by a parent or coach. The use of carts is NOT a requirement, and players do still have the option of walking at this tournament if they prefer to do so. There will be some additional spectator carts available on a first come basis. A spectator cart rental cost is $32 plus sales tax.

IMPORTANT NOTE – CADDIES

Please note caddies are only permitted at our tour events for players aged 15 or younger. Caddies for aged 16+ players are not permissible at any of our tournaments. Caddies must observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed. If you are planning on caddying for your junior player, please remember your primary function is to be encouraging and supportive, offer practical course information and advice. Under no circumstances will player coaching be permitted. Coaching is generally defined as providing instruction and analysis on a player’s game/skills.

PLAYER YARDAGES 

The following Tee Boxes/Yardages are being used for this tournament. Please note that all yardages follow the guidelines of FSGA and are generally based on player age at time of tournament. If a player wishes to play from a longer yardage than that allocated you may request to do so at least 24 hours prior to the tournament start. Under no circumstances will requests be accepted for players to play shorter yardage than that allocated. Please reach out if you have questions regarding yardages.

BOYS 16-18 – GOLD TEES @ 6500 APPROX.

BOYS 13/15 – BLUE TEES @ 6100 APPROX.

GIRLS 14/17 – WHITE TEES @ 5500 APPROX.

GIRLS 12/13 – WHITE /GREEN @5200 APPROX.

BOYS 11/12 – WHITE TEES @ 5500 APPROX.

BOYS 9/10 – WHITE/GREEN @ 5000 APPROX.  

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE – TOURNAMENT SCORING. ALL PLAYERS MUST READ AND AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING.

Official player scoring at ALL Claret tournaments is only accepted when input by each player into our dedicated online scoring app following the conclusion of each hole. If you have not done so already, please download the app named CJGT from your app store to your phone in advance of this tournament and ensure you have registered correctly. If downloading for the first time you must complete a one-time only player registration. Please note you are registering a JUNIOR GOLFER. If you are a parent registering on behalf of your junior golfer, please click on the correct option box when asked if you are a JUNIOR GOLFER or PARENT/SPECTATOR. Incorrectly registering your player will lock him/her out of tournament scoring. The app looks like the example below.

Any registered player who arrives to tournament who has not registered in the CJGT app in advance, and who has not advised us of any issue in doing so, will NOT have their tournament score counted. On Friday, when you receive player tee times, ALL players should open the app and ensure you have scoring access and your details are displayed correctly ie. Name is spelt correctly etc. and advise if any changes are necessary.
