Good morning everyone and thank you for your player registration for this weekend’s, 36-Hole, Lopez Legacy Junior Challenge Tournament. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you tomorrow to one of the best championship venues we play, Lopez Legacy GC in The Villages. Venue information and directions are found by clicking HERE This ranked tournament will attract player rankings points from iWanamaker rankings, Junior Golf Scoreboard and Junior Golf Hub (Click HERE and read Section 9a and 9b for T&C’s relating to player rankings) FJT STEP Exemption Awards are also available to some of our lowest scoring players in this tournament.

Below this message you will find individual tee times, pairings, yardages and player flight/group info for this competition. We will commence play at 11.56 AM on hole number 1 of Torri Pines Course and tomorrow our back 9 will see us turning for home on the Erinn Glenn Course at Lopez Legacy. ALL players should arrive at the 1st tee at least 10 minutes before their tee time for local rules briefing and introductions.

CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION AREA EACH DAY: Without exception ALL players must check in on arrival, with Fiona, at our Golfer Registration Area on both days of play. Registration will be situated in front of the putting green. Registration will be open from 10.00 am. Local rules sheets will be issued and if any tee time or pairing changes are necessary, we will communicate these to you at that point. Range balls for warm up will be laid out and practice information will also be issued to players at check-in. ALL players should arrive at the 1st tee no later than 10 minutes before their tee time for local rules briefing and introductions. Any player arriving at the tee who hasn’t checked in at Golfer Registration will be sent back to do so. 

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING GOLF CART RENTALS: At most of our tournaments players can choose to rent/ride in a golf cart or walk. You may only rent and self-drive cart if you are 16 or older and have a valid driver’s license. Players under 16 can be driven by a parent, accompanying adult or coach. If you require a Player’s golf cart the rental cost is $25 plus tax. Please do not pay for your golf cart in ProShop until you have first checked in with Fiona. Rental Carts are only guaranteed for players; It is unlikely that additional spectator carts will be available to rent however in the event that any spectator carts do become available they can only be purchased AFTER players receive their carts. If using a rental cart at the end of each day of play please empty it of all belongings/trash and return your cart to the cart staff as quickly as possible.

CADDIES AND PACE OF PLAY: Please note caddies are permitted at our tournament events only for players aged 15 or less. Caddies for aged 15+ players are not permissible at any of our tournaments. Caddies must observe USGA caddie rules at all times and pace of play MUST be observed. If your group falls behind play, we will request you play with more urgency in order to keep pace with the group in front. If after doing so you are still behind play we will give you a target time to complete the following two holes. If target time is not achieved, we will issue penalty strokes to all in your group OR any individual player(s) playing in your group that’s causing delay. Electronic devices to assist with yardages are acceptable for use at this competition.

IMPORTANT SCORING NOTES AND USE OF APP: Official scoring for this tournament will only be accepted by inputting scores into our dedicated online scoring app, which can be downloaded from your phone’s app store, by searching for CJGT. Please download the CJGT app and register your player in advance of your arrival at the tournament. If you have issues doing so it is better to identify these to us at least a day before tournament as the app providers are only available Monday-Friday to resolve app issues. If you fail to register in the CJGT app we will be unable to include your score in this tournament.

If using the scoring app for the first time, you will first have to register by inputting your details in the CJGT app. Please only do so by USING THE PLAYERS NAME and confirm that you are a JUNIOR GOLFER/PLAYER in this tournament. It’s important that you do NOT register as a Parent or Spectator as doing so will immediately lock you, and your Junior Golfer, out of the ability to add scores! Once registered you can then search for tomorrow’s competition in the Find an Event area where you will find the full list of players and tee times have been loaded into the app already. Once registered scoring via the CJGT app is a simple process and we can demonstrate this prior to play. Following play on each day we will ask you to check all scores as a group in the app and then verbally agree and confirm scores in the CJGT app are correct. Please do not leave the venue without verifying scores with us as doing so will result in us not including your Day 1 score and disqualification. We will notify you by email of Sunday pairings and tee times on Saturday evening.

NEAREST THE PIN COMPETITION: As an additional exciting and fun element, we will also be operating a nearest-the-pin competition tomorrow and on Sunday for all players, with a prize up for grabs each day for the player who hits closest to the pin. Tomorrow this competition will take place on hole number 8 on Torri Pines Course.

WEATHER SAFETY PROCEDURE: Please be assured player safety is always our priority and, if it becomes necessary at any of our tournaments to stop play, shelter on course or return to the clubhouse, we will immediately advise you by text message and by one long blast of air horn. Please consult the forecast prior to play and ensure you are prepared, as much as possible, for fast-changing weather conditions. ALWAYS bring plenty of water and snacks and stay hydrated at all times.

PLAYER AWARDS SUMMARY: On Sunday following play we will have a brief awards presentation ceremony. We always try to conduct these presentations as quickly as we can to ensure you are not waiting around too much. If you can attend, we do always appreciate your sportsmanship and support of your fellow players. A Claret Tour Award of Medal and Plaque will be made to each of our lowest scoring Flight Winners. We will also award an FJT STEP Exemption Award to the player flight winner in each of the following groups: Girls 13/17, Boys 13/15 and Boys 16/18.  Please note that conditions do apply to the award of FSGA/STEP Exemption Awards, see below.

FSGA/FJT STEP Exemption Awards: Only players holding current Annual Membership player status of The Claret Tour, PRIOR to the beginning of this tournament, and current 2026 Scholarship players will be eligible to receive FJT Step Exemption Awards. These awards will only be made if the winning player scores an average +16 score against par or less following 36 holes played.
